The Igurubi project is located in the eastern part of the Nzega Greenstone belt of the Lake Victoria Goldfields (LVGF), about 50km east of the Golden Pride Mine. The southern part of the area hosts a number of richly mineralised quartz reefs in a sheared and altered granite–greenstone contact zone currently extending over 5.5km strike length.
The Igurubi project comprises two contiguous licences areas totalling 111km², over which African Eagle (AFE) will have earned a 75% interest by June 2008.
A small number of Primary Mining Licences exist within the area, the holders of which have previously reached separate exploration agreements with AFE
The southern part of the project area is largely underlain by granite and greenstone lithologies. The contact between these lithologies is sheared and the granite, which is strongly altered, contains at least two parallel, northwest trending, quartz reef zones. The main reef zone contains three mineralised structures, two of which were confirmed by drilling and extend over a strike length of at least 5.5km and remain open at both ends.
The third reef has not yet been drill-tested but is host to a number of artisanal workings and has an apparent strike length of 2km.
Much of the project area is covered by sediments deposited when Lake Victoria was much larger. The northern part of the area is interpreted to be underlain by greenstones. Inliers of Banded Iron Formations (BIF) are observed cropping out through the lake sediment cover. In the southern part of the project, recent drilling showed that granite-hosted gold mineralisation underlies the lake sediments.
African Eagle has compiled and synthesised historical survey data from previous explorers and completed extensive follow up geophysical, geochemical and geological mapping (Fig. 1). AFE has drilled fifty-six Reverse Circulation (RC) holes, targeting two of the three known gold reefs (Fig. 2). Thirty-one of the holes have intersected gold mineralisation of 0.5 g/t or greater over 3m or more. Intersections include:

AFE has identified a significant gold in soil anomaly hosted in greenstones and BIF, returning elevated gold values up to 40ppb in the northeast corner of the project.
AFE recently commenced drilling to test the full strike extent of mineralisation beneath the Proto-Lake Victoria sediments in the south of the area with early encouraging results. AFE will also test the third reef in the main zone in the coming months.
